Economy & Trading

The economy of Dunce Hustle is driven by location-based supply and demand, daily volatility, and strategic trading.

There are 6 types of tradeable goods:

  • Ganja
  • Coke
  • Molly
  • Crack
  • Acid
  • Shrooms

Each good has a Base Price and specific characteristics regarding where it is cheap or expensive.

Prices in a game are a snapshot of the global market, modified by local factors.

The Base Price of every good fluctuates in real-time (every 5 minutes) based on global market volatility. This means the underlying value of goods shifts constantly, affecting all new games and new days.

When a new in-game Day starts, the game calculates specific prices for that day using the current Global Base Price. These prices remain fixed for the duration of that game day.

The formula for the daily price at a specific location is:

Daily Price = Global Base Price * Location Multiplier * Day Volatility

Each location has a general multiplier that affects all goods sold there:

  • Bel Air: 1.3x (High prices, good for selling)
  • Ogle: 1.2x
  • Bourda: 1.1x
  • Stabroek: 1.0x (Standard)
  • Agricola: 0.9x
  • Eccles: 0.85x
  • Albouystown: 0.8x (Low prices, good for buying)
  • Charlestown: 0.75x

2. Supply & Demand (Cheap/Expensive Locations)

Section titled “2. Supply & Demand (Cheap/Expensive Locations)”

Specific goods are cheaper or more expensive in certain areas:

  • Cheap Locations (0.7x): Buying here is a bargain.
  • Expensive Locations (1.4x): Selling here yields maximum profit.

A random daily fluctuation is applied to keep the market dynamic.

  • Cost: You pay the current price per unit.
  • Limit: You are limited by your Cash and Inventory Space (Max 1000 units).
  • Inventory Value: Buying goods converts your Cash into Inventory Value, maintaining your Net Worth (minus any spread).
  • Gain: You receive the current price per unit in Cash.
  • Profit: Profit is realized when you sell at a higher price than you bought (accounting for travel costs).
  • Buy Low: Purchase goods in Albouystown or Charlestown, or where specific goods are “Cheap”.
  • Sell High: Travel to Bel Air or Ogle to sell.
  • Watch the Market: Prices change daily. What was profitable yesterday might not be today.
