Combat & PvP
In Dunce Hustle, you aren’t just competing on the leaderboard—you can actively hinder your opponents by mugging them.
Mugging Mechanics
Section titled “Mugging Mechanics”Attacking other players is high-risk, high-reward. You can target the same player multiple times per day, but diminishing returns push you to find new targets.
Rules of engagement
- Cost: 10 Energy per attempt (failed attempts cost 15 Energy).
- Location: You must be at the same Location as your target.
- Protection: Net Worth < $2,000 cannot be mugged (Newbie Protection).
Loot & diminishing returns
Each successful mugging against the same player on the same day yields less loot. Failed attempts do not advance the penalty.
| Success # | Loot Penalty | Effective Loot |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | None | 100% (10–25% of cash/goods) |
| 2nd | -50% | 50% |
| 3rd+ | -75% | 25% (floor) |
Outcomes
- Success: Steal a portion of the target’s Cash and Inventory per the table above; the target may also lose 1 Goon.
- Failure: Lose 15 Energy (instead of 10) and have a 50% chance to lose a Goon.
Dev notes / edge cases
- Zeroing out: Players cannot be taken below $2,000 net worth.
- Rounding: If 25% of loot is less than 1 unit (e.g., $3 cash), it rounds down to 0.
- Notification: Victims see a notice with the applied penalty (e.g., “You were MUGGED… (50% less)”).
